Vrnjacka Banja is also known as the "Queen of Spa Tourism" because it has the longest tradition as the first tourist center in Serbia. The natives enjoyed the benefits of the healing hot water of Vrnjačka Banja in prehistoric times, and the Romans built the spa Aquae Orcinae and the hot water source Fons Romanus here. In the period from the 14th to the 19th century, when Serbia was under the rule of the Turkish Empire, Turkish beys came to Vrnjačka Banja for treatment and rest, and the people buried hot springs in revolt, according to the legend. In the thirties of the 19th century, when Serbia was liberated from the Turks, Prince Miloš Obrenović hired geologist Herder to examine mineral waters. Analyzes have shown that the mineral water in Vrnjačka Banja is of very high quality and can be compared to the water in the famous Česká Banja, Karlovy Vary. However, Vrnjačka Banja waited for the development of tourism for another three decades, when the "Founding Founding Society of Sour Hot Water" was founded in Vrnjci, in 1868. The construction of accommodation capacities for the guests of Vrnjačka Banja began, which soon became more and more. These accommodation capacities were actually huts, which sprouted at lightning speed, first on the banks of the river Banjska, where the famous dam was formed, which became the core of Vrnjacka Banja. The year 1888 is taken as a turning point in the development of Vrnjačka Banja as a tourist center, when General Jovan Belimarković, a prominent person and the Minister of the Army and Police of that time, decided to build a summer house here. The king came to General Belimarković in the post and stayed in the summer house, and then all the more prominent people of that time, followed his example and began to rest in Vrnjačka Banja. Elite tourism developed until the Second World War, and after the end of the war, Vrnjačka Banja became a health resort accessible to the general public. Since 1960, new hotel-medical facilities have been built, when a record visit of 200,000 guests and 2 million overnight stays was achieved.

The climate is moderately continental, with a snowy winter without frost and fresh summer. Thanks to the mountains that surround Vrnjacka Banja, the winds are weak. Vrnjacka Banja is located at the foot of the mountain Goc and not far from Kopaonik. Vrnjacka Banja is also adorned with lush vegetation, most often linden, pine and fir. It is interesting that the first doctor in the modern history of Vrnjačka Banja was Josif Pančić, our famous botanist, who discovered the world-famous and original spruce on Kopaonik, which is named "Pančić's spruce" after him.

There are as many as seven hot water springs in the area of Vrnjačka Banja: Hot water, Snežnik, Slatina, Jezero, Beli izvor, Borjak and Vrnjačko vrelo. Two waters are bottled as table mineral waters and the others are used for healing. The source of "Hot water" is unique in the world because the only temperature of water is 36.5 C, which is the same as the temperature of the human body! In 1883, a Kursalon for accommodating guests was built on this spring, and in 1892, a masonry bathroom was built. The mineral waters of Vrnjačka Banja treat many diseases, such as diabetes, diseases of the gallbladder and pancreas, gastric and duodenal ulcers, diseases of the digestive organs, gynecological diseases and sterility, rheumatic diseases, etc. These mineral waters are drunk, bathed in, used for inhalation and rinsing.

Vrnjacka Banja is adorned with numerous attractions. Belimarković Castle - a summer house of the already mentioned General Belimarković, who initiated and promoted tourism in Vrnjačka Banja. The bridge of love - a place where girls who want to preserve their love, hang padlocks on which they write their name and the name of their partner and throw the key into the river. The tradition was created on the basis of a touching and true story of unhappy love from the period of the First World War, between officer Relja and his girlfriend Nada. Relja went to war and Nada stayed in Vrnjačka Banja to wait for him. However, Relja reached Greece during the war and fell in love with a beautiful Greek woman and forgot Nada. Nada waited and waited and eventually died of grief for Relj. Our famous poetess Desanka Maksimović, during her visit to Vrnjačka Banja, heard about this story and, touched by it, wrote one of her most famous songs, "Prayer for Love".

Spa Park - was built in 1888 and is constantly changing and evolving, modeled on the park in the spa of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. This park has a 2 km long promenade, under the linden trees. There is also a Japanese garden that evokes the vegetation and way of life in Japan. There are numerous sculptures in the park, which make the park a symbol of Vrnjačka Banja.
